Hello friends! Today I wanted to share my six essentials for the fall season this year. Being from Iowa, I was accustomed to cooler weather approaching as early as September/October. But that’s not how it rolls in Texas! Summer can extend all the way to the end of October even November, as us Texans have seen firsthand this year. The 80 degree weather has just lingered, with no plans to leave us at an appropriate time.
Not to worry though, I have learned to adapt and find ways to wear my fall clothes without my body suffocating in the heat! Also, November has now arrived which means that even the unseasonably warm weather has to cool down sometime soon, as winter is just around the corner!
1. Thigh High Boots and Socks
Thigh high boots are so in right now, and I love it. You can pair them with a romper or a dress, or go casual and wear them with jeans. They are cute, sexy, and versatile. Definitely a must have in your closet this season.
To piggyback off of the thigh high boots, a similar item that I love to wear in the fall are thigh high socks. I’ll usually wear them early on before the weather gets super cold, and throw on a dress with some riding boots.
Yes, I have two photos showcasing flannel in this post because it is such a classic in the Fall. In the other picture, I had paired them with thigh high boots to dress up the outfit a bit. But if it’s too hot outside don’t fret, you can throw on a pair of high waisted shorts, wear a tank, and leave the flannel shirt unbuttoned so you can breathe! I wore mine with a pair of converse high tops trying to channel my inner Sporty Spice.
Fashion trends always recycle; sometimes it’s welcomed and sometimes not so much! But I will stand with open arms for the return of the 90’s choker necklace. It’s simple but chic, and always adds to any outfit.
4. Fashion Scarves
You know those scarves that are super cute but not very good at keeping your neck warm in the cold? These are perfect for the fall! Scarves are a wonderful accessory to fancy up an outfit when you just aren’t feeling like doing a lot. Sometimes it’s just nice to throw on a cotton t shirt, but when you pair it with a scarf it takes your outfit from basic to bad ass. Well maybe the leather jacket makes it bad ass, but you get the point.
5. Leather Jackets
What a great segue into my next essential for fall, leather jackets. They are definitely weather appropriate, keeping you cozy on those chilly nights. But more so, they’re a major staple to have in your wardrobe as they provide your outfits with that extra edge.
6. Dark Nails
As the hot sunny days get further and further behind us, so does my desire for bright vibrant nail colors. I love to go dark in the fall, and opt for rich deep colors like navy blues and wine reds. The first photo is of dipping powder done at the nail salon (organic and healthy for your nails).
The second photo is the color OPI Malaga Wine, painted by yours truly! Sadly this color isn’t on Amazon but the top coat I use is! I have included a link to Seche Vite which is the top coat I use that makes my nails last for a solid week without chipping! A serious lifesaver.
That’s all I have for today! Happy fall ya’ll!
